The return of Jesus Christ on the clouds is a very important and central doctrine in the Holy Bible of Christianity, which is called the 'Second Coming' .According to the Bible, this coming of Jesus will be visible to the whole world and will be very glorious. The following important references are found in the Bible regarding this:

Revelation 1:7: "Behold, he is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him.

"Matthew 24:30: "Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven... and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.

"1 Thessalonians 4:16-17: The Lord himself will descend from heaven, and the dead in Christ will rise first. Then those who are alive and remain will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air.
According to Christian belief, Jesus' first coming was in humility as a Savior (Savior), but his second coming will be from the clouds as a Judge and King of kings .

Hello siddhi koli;

Thank you for sharing the return of Jesus! Each day I thank the Lord for waking me up. As I'm praying I ask God to help me be prepared when Jesus returns because I don't know when He will return. I feel that is an act of trust and faith.

What if I'm at the vegetable and fruit market buying bananas? All of a sudden Christ returns in His glory. I'm not going to worry about the bananas but rejoice because when He returns He is coming for us, and me.

Other's thoughts?

God bless everyone.

I love to think about this. Whenever I read or hear about Jesus' return, it cheers me up. This is not our home. Our Lord is coming back again one day in power and great glory just like He promised. I just wish more people were looking forward to His coming and rejoicing over it. Titus 2: 13 describes it as "that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ." His return is NOT something we should fear if we are His. It is a blessed hope indeed.

I think this is a matter brethren should be very... very... careful about, and not allow men's doctrine of a pre-trib rapture theory to creep in.

Think about what Apostle Paul said in 1 Corinthians 15 that happens on the "last trump" (the 7th Trumpet). Consider what he said just before, that as we have borne the "image of the earthy" we shall also bear the "image of the heavenly", i.e., the "spiritual body" he spoke of in 1 Corinthians 15:44.

In 1 Corinthians 15:52-54, Paul quoted from Isaiah 25 about death being swallowed up in victory, along with that idea of being "changed" to the "spiritual body". Who has not read that Isaiah 25 Scripture where Paul quoted from?

Isa 25:5-9
5 Thou shalt bring down the noise of strangers, as the heat in a dry place; even the heat with the shadow of a cloud: the branch of the terrible ones shall be brought low.

The above points to the final day of this world, the "day of the Lord" when God's consuming fire will burn man's works off this earth like 2 Peter 3:10 and per Paul in 1 Thessalonians 5:3 about the "sudden destruction" on that "day of the Lord." Paul was pulling from the Old Testament prophets about that event on the "day of the Lord", the last day of this present world.

6 And in this mountain shall the LORD of hosts make
unto all people a feast of fat things, a feast of wines on the lees, of fat things full of marrow, of wines on the lees well refined.

Per John 5:28-29 when Lord Jesus comes, the wicked dead will be resurrected also, to their "resurrection of damnation." Is the future resurrection to a "spiritual body" or not, according to Apostle Paul? The "spiritual body" Paul taught is... the future resurrection body type, so the wicked will have that same kind of body too. I know, I know, it is most often taught that change Paul spoke of only happens for Christ's Church. Yet that is not what Bible Scripture shows. It's not what God shows here through His prophet Isaiah either.

7 And He will destroy in this mountain
the face of the covering cast over all people, and the vail that is spread over all nations.

I interpret the above to be about that being "changed" on the "last trump" "at the twinkling of an eye" for all peoples still alive on earth, which the above Isaiah 25 Scripture appears to be hinting to. In 1 Corinthians 15:51 Paul did say, "... but we shall all be changed." It's just that, that verse is most often interpreted to mean for Christ's Church only.

8
He will swallow up death in victory; and the Lord GOD will wipe away tears from off all faces; and the rebuke of His people shall He take away from off all the earth: for the LORD hath spoken it.
9 And it shall be said in that day, "Lo, This is our God; we have waited for Him, and He will save us: This is the LORD; we have waited for Him, we will be glad and rejoice in His salvation.
KJV

If you understand this, and even if you do not agree, you might be shocked with what I will cover next...

Recall Daniel 3 when Shadrach, Meshech, and Abed-nigo refused to bow to the idol that Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, had setup and demanded that all bow in worship to it. They were cast into a hot fiery furnace heated seven times... hotter than necessary. Nebuchadnezzar saw a fourth Man in that furnace with them Who appeared like The Son of God. And when Shadrach, Meshech, and Abed-nigo came out of that hot fiery furnace, their clothes did not even smell of smoke!

I strongly... believe that is an example of how Lord Jesus will protect His elect through... God's consuming fire on the day of His future coming to gather His Church. God's consuming fire will not harm us.

I believe that "last trump" change Apostle Paul spoke of for when Jesus comes to gather us, will be at the exact... same... time... of God's consuming fire hitting this earth to burn man's works off it. I believe it will bring that change to the "spiritual body", our flesh being cast off (for those still alive on earth). And I believe per Isaiah 25 that will happen for all... peoples still alive on earth at that moment. For the wicked and unsaved that are changed also, I believe God's consuming fire will 'spiritually' affect them within the realm of shame. Call it speculation if you want, but for me that Isaiah 25:5-9 Scripture reveals it will happen for all peoples, not just Christ's Church.

And we need to remember that, per Zechariah 14, Lord Jesus does not simply hang out on His cloud at His coming, gathers the Church, and then takes them back into Heaven. He gathers the resurrected saints from Heaven and brings those with Him at His descent to the earth, and then His saints still alive are "caught up" to Him, and to those resurrected saints, then they all... go to the Mount of Olives east of Jerusalem on this earth (See 1 Thessalonians 4:13-17 and Zechariah 14:1-5).

What will be different then between those in Christ vs. the wicked once that "last trump" change to the "spiritual body" happens for all peoples at Christ's coming?

Apostle Paul actually covered that in the Greek of 1 Corinthians 15:53 using 4 different Greek words about TWO separate changes that must happen to have eternal life through Lord Jesus Christ. The wicked will go through only the 1st change, that of putting on the "spiritual body". But their souls will still be in a liable to perish condition, which in the Greek is Paul's meaning for "this mortal".

1 Cor 15:53
53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption,
and this mortal must put on immortality.
KJV

That's two types of changes to have eternal life through Christ. That's why that "and" conjunction was put there. Recall John 3 about being "born again" by The Spirit. All souls that will go through the 1st change to the spirit body only will still be in a liable to perish condition at the "second death". Their souls will still be spiritually 'dead', without Christ, and thus not "born again" of The Spirit through Faith on Jesus Christ. Yet we will all be in spirit type bodies then, which is the body type of the resurrection and of the world to come.

"Gathers the resurrected saints from Heaven" ?
Not correct, according to the Greek.
The statement reverses the direction of travel and conflates two different events.

What 1 Thess 4:16-17 actually says in Greek:
katabēsetai ap' ouranou — the Lord will descend from heaven
oi nekroi en Christō anastēsontai prōton — the dead in Christ will rise first
harpagēsometha ... en nepheleisin ... apantesin ton Kyrioun en aerī — we will be caught up in clouds to meet the Lord in the air

The verb is anastēsontai (from anistēmi, "to rise up"). This is a resurrection from the dead — from their burial places — not a retrieval from Heaven. The dead are not sitting in Heaven waiting to be picked up; they are in their tombs and will be raised. The preposition is absent; the verb itself carries the meaning "rise from among the dead" (BDAG).

"Brings those with Him at His descent to the earth"

The direction is up, not down. Christ descends (partially — to the air), the dead rise, the living are caught up to meet him in the air (en aerī). Nobody is brought down to the ground. The endpoint Paul states is: esometha hyp' autou pantote — "we will always be with the Lord." No earthly destination is mentioned.

"They all go to the Mount of Olives" ?

This is not in 1 Thess 4 at all. The Mount of Olives comes from Zechariah 14:4 (poieda autou stēsontai epi to oros eleon) and Acts 1:9-11, which describe Christ's visible, bodily return to earth to rule — a different (and in premillennial sequencing, later) event from the rapture. Conflating the two is a common error but is not what the 1 Thessalonians text says.

I do not believe in the 'soul sleep' theory tradition.

1 Peter 3:18-20 about the "spirits in prison" is about people that died back to the flood, as written. They are dead in regards to their flesh bodies, but alive in regards to their 'spirit', which is a heavenly dimension operation. Soul sleep theory believes those "spirits in prison" represent demons, and that Jesus was only declaring His victory over them. Not so. That event of Jesus at His resurrection preaching The Gospel to those "spirits in prison" was about fulfilling the Isaiah 42:7 prophecy...

Isa 42:6-7
6 I the LORD have called thee in righteousness, and will hold thine hand, and will keep thee, and give thee for a covenant of the people, for a light of the Gentiles;
7 To open the blind eyes,
to bring out the prisoners from the prison, and them that sit in darkness out of the prison house.
KJV

That "prison house" is not about earthly prisons. It is about Satan's pit prison in the heavenly dimension. That is why 1 Peter 4:5-6 then says this:

1 Peter 4:5-6
5 Who shall give account to Him That is ready to judge the quick and the dead.

6 For,
for this cause was the gospel preached also to them that are dead, that they might be judged according to men in the flesh, but live according to God in the spirit.
KJV

And the Biblical fact that Lord Jesus went to those "spirits in prison" once His flesh body was "quickened", is yet another example those were alive and aware in the heavenly.

1 Peter 3:18-20
18 For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God,
being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:
19 By which also He went and preached unto the spirits in prison;

20 Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water.
KJV

Thusly, Apostle Paul in 1 Thessalonians 4:14-15 that we who remain are alive shall not 'precede' (KJV "prevent" NT:5348 means 'precede' in the Greek) them who are asleep. Precede to where? To the heavenly. And that's why Paul says Jesus will bring those asleep saints with Him, when He comes.

1 Thess 4:14-15
14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again,
even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with Him.
15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.
KJV

This idea is confirmed in the Matthew 24:31 and Mark 13:27 verses, where it should be evident Jesus is Who Apostle Paul was pulling that idea from.

In the Matthew 24:31 gathering of the saints, it says they are gathered "... from one end of heaven to the other." If they are gathered from heaven like Jesus said there, it means they have to already be in the heavenly. That does not say those saints are gathered from the ground then to the sky. In the Mark 13:27 version, about the saints still alive on earth, it says its saints are gathered "... from the uttermost part of the earth to the uttermost part of heaven." Any other interpretation of 1 Thessalonians 4:13-17 that goes against that evidence in Christ's Olivet discourse is to contradict our Lord Jesus Christ.

Have you not read Ecclesiastes 12:5-7? It reveals that when our flesh dies, there is a "silver cord" that is loosed, and then our flesh goes back to the earth where it came from, but our spirit goes back to God Who gave it. Per Hebrews 4:12, God made us with a flesh body, a spirit, and a soul. Our spirit and soul parts are of the heavenly order. Only our flesh is of this earthly order.

This is why Lord Jesus said in John 3:6 that which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of The Spirit is spirit. But Nicodemus didn't understand because obviously he believed the tradition of soul sleep. Per Matthew 10:28 Lord Jesus said to not fear those who can kill our flesh body, but not our soul. That right there is about the distinction between the earthly order and the heavenly order of our makeup God made us with. Apostle Paul made this even more clear in the 2 Corinthians 5 Chapter showing that we also have a body not made with hands, but one from God, eternal in the heavens, meaning of the heavenly dimension.

1 Thessalonians 4:16 says Jesus will "descend from heaven." Matthew 25:31-32 says Jesus when He comes, He will sit upon His throne of glory (David's throne He inherits, which is an earthy throne), and then all the nations will be gathered before Him. That can only happen upon this earth. Therefore, that reveals that He descent is back to this earth, after He gathers His saints of course, but still at that same one-time future coming.

I never said that 1 Thessalonians 4 is where it says all the saints gathered by Lord Jesus go to the Mount of Olives. Instead, that is written in the Zechariah 14 Scripture, which is where I pointed you to in my previous post.

The "day of the Lord" is when Jesus' future coming to gather His Church will be. Zechariah 14 lays this out too, and confirms what the two angels said in Acts 1 about Jesus future return. Per Revelation 16:15, just prior to the 7th Vial being poured out, Jesus warns the Church that He comes "as a thief". That metaphor is from what Apostles Paul and Peter taught that the "day of the Lord" shall come "as a thief in the night" (1 Thessalonians 5 and 2 Peter 3:10). That day is how the Zechariah 14 Scripture starts out.

Zech 14:3-5
3 Then shall the LORD go forth, and fight against those nations, as when He fought in the day of battle.

That future battle is about the Revelation 16 event of Armageddon on the 7th Vial, which Lord Jesus and His angels fight on the day of His future coming "as a thief".

4
And His feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east, and the mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, and there shall be a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south.
5 And ye shall flee to the valley of the mountains; for the valley of the mountains shall reach unto Azal: yea, ye shall flee, like as ye fled from before the earthquake in the days of Uzziah king of Judah:
and the LORD my God shall come, and all the saints with Thee.
