The book of Jude gives us one of the strongest warnings in the New Testament about the danger of false teachers and the responsibility we have to stand against them. In verses 3 and 4, Jude says, “Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints. For there are certain men crept in unawares...” This tells us that contending for the faith is not optional; it’s necessary. False teachers don’t announce themselves, they creep in unnoticed. They appear spiritual, they use Christian language, but they twist the grace of God into a license for sin and deny the authority of the Lord Jesus Christ.

We are not called to be passive in the face of deception. Scripture commands us to mark those who cause divisions through false doctrine (Romans 16:17), rebuke them sharply so they may be sound in the faith (Titus 1:13), and have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them (Ephesians 5:11). This forum is here for that exact purpose, to expose and refute false teachings using the Word of God as our final authority. Whether it’s salvation by works, the denial of Jesus’ deity, abuse of spiritual gifts, or any teaching that departs from the gospel, we must speak up and stand firm.

Let’s use this space to call out errors, not with pride or malice, but with boldness and clarity. Let’s help one another stay rooted in the truth. The command of Jude is still urgent today: earnestly contend for the faith. False teaching spreads because too few are willing to confront it. Let’s not be silent. Let’s be faithful.

David,
You're right Romans 16:17, Titus 1:13 and Ephesians 5:11 call for action...

“But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction. And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of. And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not.” (2 Peter 2:1-3)

Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them.18 For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple.

These are good teachings, because so many if us have been conditioned by everyday survival and living in the world, that we do not see how "talking down" to each other is against what God teaches.

Good morning, everyone;

How do we defend the Christian faith? I started with my marriage. When we were newlyweds we were caught up with our education, job growth, a car to get to work, making more money and buying our future home. When things went sideways, we cursed at the situation. That seemed to be the focus, not on defending the faith because, to be honest, we were caught up in it (the world.)

God sent us a seasoned believer to share the Gospel. It helped us come to our senses, first to our marriage, and that's when God guided us toward others in prayer and study of the Bible. For example,

Jude, barely 1 1/2 pages is a powerful book right before Revelation. God, who is a God of order designed His 66 books in the Bible, perfectly, ultimately preparing us to be sanctified unto Him and defend the Christian faith.

In my own words, be watchful. When those who are quick to curse Jesus publicly starts behind closed doors in their home, seriously.

We respond by defending our faith in gentleness and respect. This may sound "fluffy" but do we know how hard this is to practice? The Good News is God is right there, building each of us up with consistent, loving, honest Christ living, to serve as living evidence of the Bible's transformative power.

The more we interface with others (the opposers) and contend for the faith, the better we get from practice.

God bless you all.

Bob

One thing we must never forget is that defending the faith means defending what God has actually said, not what we personally believe He meant to say.

There is a serious difference between someone who disagrees with our understanding of Scripture and someone who is actually teaching something contrary to God's Word. We need to be careful about that distinction.

Paul tells us in 2 Timothy 3:16, "All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness."

Notice that he says ALL Scripture. We cannot build a doctrine around one verse while ignoring other passages that address the same subject. Nor can we declare someone a false teacher simply because they question our interpretation.

At the same time, we cannot remain silent when someone is twisting Scripture, denying Jesus Christ, changing the gospel, or encouraging people to continue in sin. Galatians 1:8 makes it clear how seriously God regards a corrupted gospel.

The purpose of exposing false teaching is not to win arguments, attack people, or prove ourselves right. It is to protect people from deception and point them to the truth that leads to salvation through Jesus Christ.

So I encourage everyone here to examine what is being taught, including what I post. Be like the Bereans in Acts 17:11, who searched the Scriptures daily to see whether what they were hearing was true.

If something I say contradicts Scripture, show me from God's Word. I want the truth, not my own way. But let's make certain we're correcting actual biblical error and not simply condemning someone for refusing to accept our personal interpretation.

Our loyalty must always be to Jesus Christ and His Word, never to a particular teacher, denomination, or interpretation that cannot stand the test of Scripture.
