I came up on this question in reddit from someone called Moonxxx_the_Fool (Deist) who actually gave rules for how you can answer their question:

What's Hell?

Hell

I want YOU to tell to me what is hell in YOUR OWN WORDS. You can describe it physically, psychologically and conceptually. Any way you prefer, but you can't just quote the Bible and "that's it" use your own words. How do you belive or know that hell is like?

----------------------

So for others who have the same question, here is my answer:

Close your eyes for a minute and imagine with me: You’re driving home. Singing along to the radio, listening to your favorite playlist. Your day’s winding down; you’re thinking about dinner and what’s on your to-do list. You’ve lived your life the way you wanted, ignoring all the talk about God and heaven and hell. “I’ll take care of that later,” or “I don’t believe that stuff,” you’d say. But then…screaming tires. Crumpling metal. Shattering glass. Your heart stops. You open your eyes but not to the paramedics or flashing lights. You open your eyes into…darkness. Thick. Hot. Silent… except for the sound of screams.

You come to your senses. This is not a dream. This is not a movie. This is forever. The air stings your lungs. The fear of what is to come doesn’t go away. The regret of a wasted life crushes your soul. And in that moment, you know you were wrong. Now that would be hell. There is a God. There is a heaven. And the Son of that God, Jesus Christ, is who He said He was. You had the opportunity to know Him and all He offers, but you traded the truth for comfort. You traded eternity for a few decades living your way. That is hell, the fire, yes, but more than that, the eternal awareness of the fact that you refused the only One who could save you.

God does not send people there to torture them and mock their pain; He sent His Son to die so no one has to go there. When your time is up, when your heart stops beating, that’s it. Your eternity is sealed. So listen to me this isn’t religion, this is reality. Heaven and hell are real places, and you’re on your way to one of them right now. Choose life. Choose Jesus. Before it’s too late.

So what is your answer?

And yes, here you can use the Bible and Bible verses.

The Bible is not on trial. Man is. Jesus said, “the scripture cannot be broken” ~John 10:35. God’s Word does not bow before modern skepticism. It exposes the heart and stands forever. The question is not whether Scripture will stand. It will. The question is whether we will stand with it.
When God warns you, don’t brush it off. Answer Him while you still can, because a hardened heart doesn’t stay neutral, it moves toward judgment. Scripture is clear: “Today if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts” ~Hebrews 3:15, and again, “He, that being often reproved hardeneth his neck, shall suddenly be destroyed, and that without remedy” ~Proverbs 29:1.
We must be careful not to cater to people's carnal desires, but rather point them to God.
