The Instructions/Commands Jesus Christ
The attached material was derived from a series of posts I made on another forum. Note: The transition between some paragraphs will be a little choppy, with some redundancy and a lack of clarity. I’ll work on these problems during my complete rewrite.
Throughout the millennium, we have been taught to live our lives to become more Christlike—to become more Christlike in our thoughts, our words, and our actions, in other words, to have our lives transformed. I concluded that such an individual would live out Christ’s teachings in Matthew’s chapters five, six, and seven, plus a person who faithfully performed all the instructions and commands that Jesus issued to and for all his disciples.
It was with this realization that I recognized I would never make it. I could not follow all of Jesus's teachings or consistently obey his 145 (or so) instructions and commandments. I was lost in the impossibility of the task. At this point, I was gently reminded that you do not give a one-year-old a full five-course meal. Instead, you feed that one-year-old the only food he can digest, and as he matures, you feed him more and more difficult food. The goal of life is when you achieve the privilege of living in the very presence of God. It is a lifelong process of trial and error, success and failure, while consistently striving to obey the teachings, instructions, and commandments of Jesus. At the same time, you are alive on this earth. It is commonly referred to as Spiritual Growth.
As you begin this study, you will quickly uncover a wealth of information derived from both the Old and New Testaments. The contextual information provided will equip you with the essential background needed to interpret Christ's teachings and instructions more effectively, as outlined in the attachments. Please read the material in the order presented.
May your studies be fruitful
