This is not about “shooting the messenger.” It is about testing the message by Scripture, which we are commanded to do.A message from a Catholic Nun, that confirms so much of what we have covered recently on BTF
Oops, my apologies, this is the WRONG VIDEO ... I listened to a bit of this one, but intended to send you ANOTHER relating to what we have been discussing (about "Israel")!This is not about “shooting the messenger.” It is about testing the message by Scripture, which we are commanded to do.
“Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God” ~1 John 4:1.
This video is not grounded in Scripture. It is built on Catholic teaching, human reasoning, and authority outside of God’s Word, which violates the foundation of this forum.
Several serious problems need to be addressed plainly:
First, the claim of “mortal sin” and the authority of a priest for confession is not biblical. Scripture says, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins” ~1 John 1:9. There is no mediator except Christ. “For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus” ~1 Timothy 2:5. Directing someone to a priest for forgiveness replaces Christ with man.
Second, the teaching that the wife has “no right” to refuse intimacy is a misuse of Scripture and ignores the full counsel of God. Yes, marriage includes mutual responsibility, but it is never used to excuse ongoing, unrepentant sin. Pornography is sin. Jesus said, “whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart” ~Matthew 5:28. A husband living in ongoing sexual sin is not walking in obedience, and Scripture never commands a wife to enable or ignore sin.
Third, the idea that the wife is primarily responsible for “healing” her husband’s addiction is not what Scripture teaches. Each person is accountable before God. “So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God” ~Romans 14:12. Sin must be repented of. It is not solved by emotional support alone. “Except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish” ~Luke 13:3.
Fourth, the entire framework of annulment, sacramental systems, and Catholic recovery resources is not found in Scripture. This is exactly why our forum rules are clear. We do not promote teachings that add to or replace what God has said. “Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it” ~Deuteronomy 4:2.
This forum stands on Sola Scriptura. That means Scripture alone is the authority, not a nun, not a priest, not a church system.
Posting content that promotes a system that replaces Christ’s sufficiency with human authority is not in line with the purpose of BTF.
This is not about the messenger. The message itself does not align with the Word of God, and that is why it cannot be promoted here.
