We have started a new In-Depth Bible Study on Prayer here on Biblical Truth Forum, and the first study is now posted.
Prayer is something every Christian knows is important, but there are a lot of questions surrounding it that deserve more than quick answers. Why do we pray if God already knows what we need? What does it really mean to pray in Jesus’ name? What did Jesus mean when He said to ask, seek, and knock? How do faith, God’s will, unanswered prayer, persistence, healing, intercession, and God’s sovereignty all fit together?
We are going to work through those questions carefully from Scripture.
This is not going to be a collection of popular sayings about prayer or somebody’s personal formula for getting answers from God. Our standard is Scripture alone. We are researching the subject deeply, comparing Scripture with Scripture, and trying to be careful about what the Bible clearly teaches, what can reasonably be concluded, and what God has not revealed.
The first study is:
Why Pray If God Already Knows What We Need?
Jesus said that our Father knows what we need before we ask Him, yet in the very next breath He taught His disciples to pray. That tells us right away that prayer is about much more than giving God information.
The new Prayer Bible Study forum is now open under our Bible Study section, and that is where the complete series will be posted as we work through it.
When the entire study is finished, reviewed, and corrected, we also plan to put it together as a downloadable PDF Bible study so anyone who wants it can keep the whole study together and work through it at their own pace.
I hope you will follow along, open your Bible, check everything against Scripture, and join the discussion. The goal is not simply to learn more facts about prayer. We want to learn from God’s Word how He would have His people pray.
