There is something in My Kindred Kind that hits like a cold wind across the soul and a warm fire in the same breath. The way you speak of winter, struggle, and the long road ahead reminds me of what Scripture already told us to expect. We walk through seasons where everything feels stripped bare, yet God keeps His people anchored. “Though the fig tree should not blossom” we still rejoice in the Lord because He is our strength ~Habakkuk 3:17-19.
Your imagery of riding out of autumn and into winter feels a lot like the believer’s journey in this world. The battles are real, the winds can be harsh, but those who belong to Christ are not crushed. He promises that those planted in Him will stand firm and rise again just like you described. “The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree” ~Psalm 92:12.
The line about seeing each other in the spring of the year, and again in that city not made with hands, echoes the hope the Bible gives. Winter is not the end. Resurrection is coming. “We shall be changed” ~1 Corinthians 15:52.
Beautifully written. Sobering. Hopeful. And true. It stirs the heart to keep going until the Lord calls us home.
