Good morning, brothers and sisters;

My long time friend gave his life to Jesus Christ last night. We've known each other since we were 10 years old and in the 5th grade. We both graduated from high school back in 1975. We attended our 20 year high school reunion in 1995. It was that reunion my wife and I prayed for his salvation and continue to this day.

Earlier this month of June 2026 his lady companion/friend and our friend was admitted to the hospital for cerebral hemorrhage. Their relationship has been pure and don't live together. Last night my friend asked me to do the prayer of acceptance while sitting next to his companion in the hospital bed. As I prayed the prayer of acceptance he accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior. I also prayed a prayer of encouragement for his friend. She would squeeze my buddy's hand when I asked if they understood what I was praying.

Hazel and I met her back in December and again in January this year. She is a Christian and while getting to know her she encouraged Hazel and me with her gentle spirit, and being a salt and light. This morning a tough decision was made to take her off life support. It's too complicated to explain here.

Matthew 5:13-16, 13 “You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot. 14 “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven. - NIV

After all those years of praying for your friend, the Lord allowed you to be there at the right time and point him to Jesus Christ. That is the mercy of God. We never know when the Lord is going to open someone’s heart, so this is a good reminder not to stop praying for the people we love.

Jesus said, “him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out” ~John 6:37. That is a precious promise.

It also sounds like your friend’s companion has been a real testimony of Matthew 5:13-16. A gentle spirit, salt and light, and still being used by the Lord even in suffering. That is not something small.

“Likewise, I say unto you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth” ~Luke 15:10.
