the hair cut

This is a powerful reminder that we have no right to decide who is worthy of hearing the gospel based on outward appearance. “Man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart” (1 Samuel 16:7). That young woman did not need judgment. She needed someone to tell her about Jesus Christ.

The church does not exist merely to hold services, build buildings, or entertain religious people. We are here to preach Christ to lost sinners. “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth” (Romans 1:16). We need to stop judging people from a distance and start opening our mouths with the truth that can save them.

I was just saying that I thought it was a good video and that the message about not judging people by their outward appearance was powerful.

How's this for a first impression twist on my part:

I opened the video and for the first time listened to Jack Cunningham. I never heard of him before. He sounded like he was out of breath, sweating and was "WHOOPIN!" (when a preacher's voice escalates during the sermon) I continued to listen to the Jack and Julie testimony.

I formed a pre-judgement of this minister but when I listened deeper, Jack had a testimony that erased my first impression as it ministered to me.

Praise God for The Hair Cut.

he is apostolic no longer alive . i am probably going to use this sunday morning .i will admit im not a fan of the type in his description of the gal. at briggs we have some wild looking workers.. one young man has fir engine red hair on one side and green on the other. . most cases as i am getting out of the car. he is running from the back lot to the front door to clock in.. i usually yell at him run forrest run manytimes i beat him to the door and open it for him. let him in. he doesn't seem like a bad kid .just this week he was ahead of me opened the door and let me in first.

i once joked with him told him it was time for new hair do. he said your right.. this scripture in jude comes to mind jude 23 And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire;" hating even the garment spotted by the flesh." i see all kinds i see young ladies throwing their life way. chasing a bum. ive seen beautiful woman in a relationship with a guy who treats them like dirt ..only to hear but i love him.

years a go when i did youth ministry they was not typical Church kids .they was rough and i preached hardcore reality to them. I DIDNT CUT NO CORNERS some in the church felt i was to blunt. we have to reach the Lost. i gave them freedom till they would ruin it.this world is crazy i thought i was a wild child in my younger days. if i thought i could get by with it not get caught, i did it some crazy things that could got me major time.

we ve got to reach the lost .if not the devil will take them . i know what's out there its 3 times worse now. the heavy drug use is bad the alcohol is bad . i talked to a young man that has been through several programs goes right back to drinking . i asked him does he want to quit half he does half he does not . i dont fully understand alcoholism other than its bad, in closing the old hymn comes to mind rescue the perishing care for the dying .

i was very familiar with this video i had seen it before . it easy to get a attitude...amen

Hello by grace;

Thank you for understanding my point, how I prejudged Jack in the video as he ministered to me. Did he pass away?

You've shared how you minister to a tough crowd. Even the tough crowd needs a savior.

God bless you, by grace, and thank you for sharing.

Bob

Hi by grace,

Speaking of "alcoholism", I have to confess that I drank far too regularly and in retrospect I can now see that I did not want to go a day without it in my house. I did not believe that I was dependant on it though : )

I would have a drink by my side, as I responded to Youtube, Fbk and others ... I see that same pattern now, even on Christian Forums, where members are very abrubt, cutting and even rude at times; some are even devious. Alcohol and drugs affect our minds!

We become far too loose tongued, and bold, even repeating old traits (without realising it maybe); our thinking is not as clear as it would be without alcohol. It is a real problem, because the drinking "habit" creeps in, often without us knowing it.

May any "keyboard warrior" take heed of how it changes our behaviour, without us realising it!

the key is use to i once heard a story of a preacher who was a former alcoholic. he planted churches in his ministry. as the story goes he was having a bad day pulled into a 24/7.he had decided to by a drink. just as he reached towards the Bottle a little girl came up grabbed his leg. saying mommy this is the man use take me to church and tell me about Jesus.

i have no reason not to believe this story . i use to party but never hit alcohol hard . the good thing is once we get saved our past is our past. things we USE to do. there will always be struggles sin has a way of getting a grip on us..

Amen. That is exactly what we are here to do, reach the lost. And that includes people who may believe they are saved while their lives show little or no fruit of knowing Christ. I was one of them. That is why 1 Corinthians 6:11 means so much to me: “And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.”

We are going to meet people who look rough, live rough, and have made a mess of their lives. They still need someone willing to care enough to tell them the truth and point them to Christ. Sometimes the ones who need Him most are the ones everyone else has already written off.

“Rescue the perishing, care for the dying” says it well. We cannot save anyone, but we can keep reaching, keep speaking the truth, and keep pointing people to the One who can.

Amen, brother. Plow on, plow on.

And such were some of you:
i like using that scripture . especially when you read the list. i have a message i will use the hair cut even though ive played it before. i will also use are we in the hospital or in hospice .the hospital is there to heal hospice is to make you comfortable till death

the church at sardis was told your dead.. i found a photo of 16 years ago where a group of churches met on a sunday afternoon at the local school ball field to pray for our school. a teacher had prayed in dismal at end of school for protection of kids during the summer. a parent got mad contacted the aclu threatened to sue the school. if that ever took place again . as far as i am concerned the aclu stand for Antichrist civil liberal union.

since that times schools have went down hill we had the prayer again the next year the crowd was down. then it stopped.

That hospital versus hospice illustration is a strong one. A church should not exist merely to make spiritually dead people comfortable until judgment comes. The gospel calls sinners to Christ, and Christ changes lives. That is why “And such were some of you” is so powerful. They were not merely accepted in the condition they were in. They were washed, sanctified, and justified in the name of the Lord Jesus.

And there are many people warming a church pew who need to wake up to the fact that coming to church does not save anyone. Jesus said, “Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God” (John 3:3). Church attendance, membership, baptism, or religious activity cannot substitute for the new birth.

Sardis is a sobering warning in that direction. Jesus said, “thou hast a name that thou livest, and art dead” (Revelation 3:1). A person can have the name, the profession, and the outward appearance of life while still being spiritually dead.

And when a person truly is born again, there will be evidence of that new life. Not sinless perfection, but change. There will be fruit. Jesus said, “Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them” (Matthew 7:20).

So the church is not hospice for spiritual death. We are not here to help people feel comfortable while they remain dead in sin. We are here to preach Christ, call sinners to repentance and faith, strengthen believers, and see lives changed by the grace of God.
