My Aunt is Recovering

Good morning,

On August 10th my Aunt who is 86 and lives in San Diego, CA, was misdiagnosed by her doctor because she had a bad case of breathing. She came down with serious pneumonia. There is an emergency medical necklace that she wears called Guardian and this may have saved her life.

The emergency Guardian center responded and she was rushed from her home to the hospital and spent 3 days in ICU.

Her brother (my uncle) and two cousins kept the immediate family updated and as she improved they were able to visit her. Last Thursday she was transferred to a nursing facility for further care and that's where she is resting now.

I spoke with her last Thursday and she sounded upbeat. My aunt is a strong woman (my late Mom's second sister) and had a hand in raising my siblings and me when we were kids.

We're grateful for the medical Guardian but it is her strong faith and daily prayers that brought her to this point of recovery.

Her name is Cecelia. Please join me in praising God for healing but that she take one day at a time as she continues to recover and return home.

Bob, that is good news about Cecelia. I am glad she was able to get help when she did and that she is now recovering and sounding upbeat.

I will keep her in prayer, asking the Lord to continue strengthening her and, if it is His will, bring her safely back home. We certainly can thank God for His mercy and for the means He used to get her the care she needed.

“Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases.” Psalm 103:2-3

Thank you and we appreciate your thinking of my Aunt Cecelia. No, but she is feeling upbeat and my uncle and two cousins visited her. She is being cared by a nursing facility and they will let the family know when she can go home.

Please continue to pray for Cecelia's ongoing healing.

I don’t want to hijack your post Bob, but I’m feeling quite anxious about a procedure I have next week (explorative). In all honesty I don’t want to do it. The closer it gets the more anxious I feel. How do we know when to push through that anxiety, and when to listen to the hesitation and not do something?

That's an awful feeling. I have a phobia about major dental work. There are moments I lose sleep and then wake up with the procedure on my mind.

I can't just say, "I'll just trust in the Lord" because I still have the anxiousness. The way I push through the anxiety is at that moment I'll go behind closed doors, get on my knees and pray.

I'm completely honest with God while confessing my weakness. God loves the honesty from our hearts. He doesn't care about me being articulate. Then He puts on my heart and mind that my teeth are healthy and maintained daily. I'm blessed with a seasoned dentist of 31 years, and God provides provisions through our senior dental insurance to defray the costs.

There are "go to" Scriptures like Isaiah 41:9-13, John 14:27, Philippians 4:6-7 that reveal God's promises that He is with me, through it all.

I'm able to fall asleep, not on my own but God who gives me rest. After reading the Bible in the evening helps me sleep better despite any anxiousness. This helps me wake up refreshed as I go into my good morning prayers.

HeldByGrace, this doesn't happen overnight and I still have to face the major dental work. But gradually the anxiousness minimizes and is replaced with God's peace because I know he is with me. Oh, and I also pray for God to anoint my dentist and doctors.

We'll all keep you in prayer and hope your procedure will be swift but with favorable results.

Thank you for the encouragement Bob. I cried when I read your reply. Honestly I cried a few times yesterday. I can’t say why I’m anxious or afraid, I’ve had 3 children, you would think this would be a walk in the park. When I try to pray, all I can say is “I don’t want to do this”. But then I’m reminded of all that led up to this, and say “I probably need to follow through with this.”
