BUCKLE UP!!!! I'm about to write it the way I feel it tonight { NOTE *** I AM NOT THE AUTHOR OF THIS ) """"" THIS WAS TAKEN FROM A ARTICLE I READ THIS MORNING
is it Gospel as in thus saith the Lord ? no but it fits pretty close what we are dealing with today..... can we associate every Christian as in one lump sum in this ? No but there are those who dd.. feel free to pick it apart critique it or me. ( a note of warning if a apart is picked one what i fully believe. i Will defend it witch every thing i have , today we have traded education for anointing i listened to a young man very knowledgeable in Greek and Hebrew break down Faith in the 2 languages it was interesting.. but No fire . if you have education you need anointing to back it up
What is “old time religion”? Long skirts down to the ankles? Suits and ties? Red-back hymnals? Camp meetings, tent revivals, and King James Bibles only? Is that God’s way?
The Bible keeps it plain and simple: Pure religion that God the Father accepts is this, take care of widows and orphans in their trouble, and keep yourself clean from the world’s filth. That’s it. Not your dress code. Not your favorite songbook. Not your nostalgic church traditions.
So tell me: Does screaming “old time religion” give you a free pass to quit loving your neighbor? To stomp on the fallen instead of restoring them? To gossip, slander, and destroy your own brothers and sisters in Christ? To stop being kind? To dishonor your parents? To act like a total jerk while calling it “standing for the truth”? I’m just asking the hard questions.
Jesus never preached about King James, camp meetings, or how long your skirt needs to be. When God called His people back to the “old paths,” He wasn’t talking about your grandma’s hymnal, He meant doing what’s right, showing mercy, and walking close with Him.
But this “old time religion” crowd has turned their traditions into a golden calf. They holler “Revival!” and “Let’s go soul winning!” from the stage while they crucify the hurting, tear down preachers, split churches, and attack anyone who doesn’t bow down to their rules. They major on the minors and call their meanness holiness.
Jesus didn’t die for your red-back hymnal. He didn’t shed His blood for your hemline. He didn’t rise from the dead so you could worship a golden calf called “old time religion.”
He died for dirty, rotten sinners. And He made it crystal clear how the world would know we’re really His: “By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another" and in 1 Corinthians 13 He tells us the characteristics of what TRUE LOVE really looks like...Read it!
Not by how loud you defend your traditions. Not by how fiercely you judge and attack everyone else. But by real, messy, restoring, grace-filled love.
If your “old time religion” turns you into a mean, finger-pointing, church-destroying bully… If it hardens your heart and gives you permission to wound people while patting yourself on the back...Then tear that golden calf down right now. Dead religion never saved a single soul. But love? That’s what still looks like Jesus!
